Rolf CarriereRolf C. Carriere
Chair of the Board
From 1971 till 2005, worked as development economist and international civil servant in FAO, World Bank and UNICEF. Has held field positions in India and Bhutan, and as UNICEF country director was assigned in Burma, Bangladesh and Indonesia. Work entailed the design, financing and evaluation of large-scale projects in health and nutrition, water and sanitation, education and child rights. Last assignment was as first director of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), a newly founded public-private-people's partnership based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Currently serves on several boards, teaches and coaches mid-career students, and works part time as pro bono adviser to the Nonviolent Peaceforce.
Born in The Netherlands, with present residence outside Geneva in Echenevex, France.

Developer of a breakthrough algorithm for determining the stability of dynamical systems (used in diverse applications including: helping countries meet their Kyoto Protocol goals in an economically feasible manner; and improving health care, medicine, and education).

Director of the U.S. Army Institute for Advanced Russian & East European Studies, Garmisch, Germany, an American Council of Education- accredited postgraduate academic institute staffed by multinational faculty and staff of 27, including Russian, Polish, Yugoslav, German, and U.S. personnel. Conducted annual symposia on Soviet affairs. Served as interpreter for high-level US-Soviet military contacts in Germany.
